The Center for Forensic Psychiatry
and Risk Assessment, S.C., was founded by and is directed by George B.
Palermo, M.D. The purpose of the Center is threefold:
-
Objective and comprehensive
assessments of individuals who, because of their behavior, have become
involved with the legal system (e.g., competency to stand trial, not
guilty plea by reason of insanity or mental defect, pre-sentencing
investigation), or in civil matters (e.g., professional malpractice,
insurance litigation, divorce and mediation).
This is available to practicing attorneys, prosecutors, defense
attorneys and courts on request. Assessment of dangerousness is also
available.
-
Risk assessment is available to both single
individuals and business corporations for the assessment of
reliability, trustworthiness and mental stability of employees or
prospective employees.
-
The Center proposes itself as a future
promoter of national and international educational reunions.
In the above assessments the
Center can avail itself of a multi-professional equipe with expertise
in the various aspects of criminological and legal investigation as well
as
psychological and neuropsychological forensic testing. The center also
does psychological autopsies. |

From The Faces of Violence, C C
Thomas Publisher, 1994.
"Dahmer, for instance, fits the
typology of the organized, non-social type of lust serial killer.
Indeed, he was methodical and cunning, fully cognizant of the
criminality of his acts and their impact on society. He wanted the
excitement derived from the publicity about the discovery of the
bodies."
"Murderous Parents", in
press, International Journal of Offender Therapy and Comparative
Criminology, April 2002.
This article offers observations
regarding some of the major manifestations of family violence, such as
neonaticide, infanticide and filicide, with the purpose of aiding in the
early identification of parents at risk. The above is discussed within
the past and present historical and cultural milieu. A brief review of
the pertinent literature is presented and pertinent case studies from
the author's forensic psychiatric practice are presented. Psychodynamic
reflections are offered.
